Nettwerk CEO and Lilith Co-Founder Terry McBride Challenges Critics Of 2010 Lilith Tour

On Tuesday, June 29, Nettwerk CEO and Lilith co-founder Terry McBride posted an open letter to critics of the 2010 Lilith Tour:

I have been amazed at the feeding frenzy of negativity by the media and bloggers around Lilith Fair. Such attacks are normally seen in the theatre of partisan politics that have poisoned western society.

What drives the passion to write negative and speculative commentary on what is a socially positive and giving festival? Why this desire to hurt and demean the efforts of thousands of people whom simply want to give back and make our society a better place?

It’s amazing to me that I did not see one of these outspoken critics at the opening show. How can one accurately report on, or even understand what Lilith is, without experiencing it? It would have been great to see the critics experiencing the passion from the people at Oxfam, Warchild, Reverb, Better World Books, Alter Eco, To-Go Ware and our amazing charity, Grameen America. Then seeing how the Sponsors such as J&J were adding so much fun and value to the experience of the Lilith Village. Funny enough, the main complaint in Calgary was long line-ups to get in. Well, the venue cut back on staff thinking no one would show up. I’m not sure where they got that idea? The critics in Calgary criticize Lilith for a situation they created, which is ironic to say the least.

Public Voting For Lilith Local Talent Search Underway

Six months ago, the 2010 Lilith Tour and Ourstage.com, the music discovery destination dedicated to new artists and new music, partnered together to find the best emerging female musicians across North America. Thousands of local artists have entered the contest by creating profiles and submitting an original song. The winner in each city is given the opportunity to open the day’s festivities when Lilith visits their city with a performance on the Village Stage, the same stage that featured artists like Christina Aguilera, Nelly Furtado, and Tegan and Sara over ten years ago.

Lilith and Ourstage.com now turn to music fans across North America to help choose the artist they think deserves the chance to play in front of thousands at their local Lilith date. The first official round of public voting is in effect now and ends on May 24. At that time, entries will be narrowed down to the Top 20 artists per market, based on public votes.

Round two begins on May 25 with the Top 20 artists per market selected. From May 25 – May 28, entries will be narrowed down to the Top 10 per market, again based on public voting. Once polls are closed, officials from Ourstage.com and the Lilith Tour will select the winner in each city. Winners will be notified starting in early June. Lilith "Choose Your Charity" Campaign Down To Top 5 In Each City!

Six weeks ago, the 2010 Lilith Tour and Involver, the fastest growing social media technology platform, launched “Choose Your Charity,” an audience engagement campaign run exclusively through the Lilith Facebook page. The original Lilith Fair raised over $10 million dollars for national and local women’s charities from 1997-1999; the Lilith 2010 “Choose Your Charity” campaign builds upon the local component by allowing fans in the tour markets to have a voice in the selection of the local women’s charities that Lilith will support in each city.

The first round of voting has officially ended, and the charities in each city have been narrowed down to the Top 5 organizations per market, based on fan votes. Between today and May 31, anyone who becomes a fan of the Lilith Facebook page can vote for the charity they feel should proceed to the final round by clicking the “Choose Yours” tab. Only one vote per person is allowed, so fans should encourage their friends and family to vote for their favorite charities.
