Take An Alternative Spring Break With State Radio

At State Radio's two night sellout this weekend at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., Calling All Crows, the band's service organization, announced their 2010 fundraising campaign to support Sudanese women. In partnership with Oxfam America, State Radio and Calling All Crows have set a goal to raise $100,000 through their Trees, Training, and Donkey Carts initiative. Calling All Crows is asking at least 100 fans to raise $1,000 to provide tree seedlings, vocational skills training and donkey carts to women. More info HERE.

This week, Calling All Crows and State Radio are hosting the first ever Alternative Break Tour: Destination New Orleans! Over March 1-7, 2010, nine service-minded State Radio fans are devoting their spring break traveling by tour bus down South, volunteering with members of the band at local non-profits by day and experiencing State Radio LIVE each night! Matt Wertz Releases New EP "While We're Becoming"; On Tour With Five For Fighting

Nettwerk management artist Matt Wertz has released a new EP today called While We're Becoming, which features 5 new tracks from the Nashville-based singer/songwriter. Jenny Owen Youngs New EP And March Tour Dates!

Jenny Owen Youngs returns with a special EP just in time for her March Spring Break Forever tour with Bess Rogers and Allison Weiss. The "Last Person EP" features the album version of the track from Jenny's latest full-length, Transmitter Failure, as well as 5 alternative versions of songs from the album. The live recordings of "Led To The Sea," "Start + Stop," "Secrets," and "Last Person" were recorded by Dan Romer in Brooklyn, and "Dissolve (The Lovely Light re-think): was arranged and recorded by Saul Simon-MacWilliams at the Lovely Light (Brooklyn) and performed by Saul and Jenny. Boston’s revolution rockers State Radio have announced a summer tour with the John Butler Trio. Pre-sale begins Feb 19 and via ticketing outlets Feb 26 (list of dates below). The band is currently bringing their incendiary rock, punk and reggae to cities all over the country on their winter stint. Other recent tour-mates include 311, Tom Morello’s The Nightwatchman, and a set with Rage Against The Machine at the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver. 

Says front man Chad Stokes, "We played with John Butler years ago in small clubs holdin' about 100 people and we've kept in touch ever since becoming good friends over the years. Last time we saw him we had a blast at the Blues and Roots Fest in Oz...we are wicked psyched to meet up with him and his band again. It's gonna be a balls to the wall tour!"

fun. Announces Dates With Motion City Soundtrack, Paramore And First Ever UK Show

The 2010 touring season is officially in effect for fun. Almost a week into their month long winter tour with Jack’s Mannequin, the rock/pop trio is excited to announce Spring tour dates with both Motion City Soundtrack (Apr 6–Apr 25) and Paramore (w/ Reliant K Apr 26-May16), including a stop at Bamboozle on May 2 in New Jersey. Additionally, the UK fans have spoken and fun. heard ‘em; the band will make their way overseas to play their first ever show in London at The Social on March 23 (full list of tour dates are below).

It’s been no secret that Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams is a fan of fun. From tweeting about her self-proclaimed love of the band (dear @ournameisfun - i love your music. goodnight) to tipping the band in a recent issue of Seventeen Magazine (For a good time, listen to fun. –I’m obsessed with them right now!), to selecting fun. as one of her “Big Hopes For 2010” in NME, she has been one of the band’s biggest supporters. Motion City Soundtrack first forged a friendship with fun., or more specifically frontman Nate Ruess, when he toured with Motion City Soundtrack back in 2006 with former band The Format.

To celebrate the kick-off of their 2010 tour season, fun. has just released the single, “At Least I’m Not as Sad (As I Used To Be),” as a 7” vinyl that also includes a clear CD, all wrapped up in some extra snazzy packaging. Fans can grab their copy at the live shows or HERE.

Hadouken! Confirms Debut North American Shows, Including Stop At Coachella; New Single Out Today

Britain’s most dynamic young band Hadouken! release their second single “Turn The Lights Out” today. The album track, along with 3 remixes, comes just two weeks before the highly anticipated release of their North American debut album For The Masses (February 2). Hadouken! will celebrate the album’s release by making their way to North America for their debut shows in New York City, Toronto and Los Angeles the week of February 8 (more info below). Additionally, the band will make their first ever stop at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival on Sunday, April 18, sharing the day with other artists like Gorillaz, Pavement, Thom Yorke, Phoenix, Florence and the Machine and more. 

A full North American tour is in the works for this Spring, but the band is already making an impact. Hadouken! landed on MTV’s Buzzworthy Blog as a “Buzzworthy Obsession” (see it here) recently for the video to their first single “M.A.D”. MTV said of the video: “The mix of humor and aggressions perfectly matches the London it-band’s dance punk sound (sometimes referred to as grindie, or grim meets indie), as wild synth squelches and sloganeering soundtrack the scenes.” Check out the video for first single “M.A.D” here.

Krishna Das Announces New Album and Tour Dates!

Called the “Chant Master of American Yoga” by the New York Times, Krishna Das will release Heart As Wide As The World, his first studio album in ten years, March 2, 2010. The album is a collaboration with David Nichtern (“Midnight at the Oasis”) who produced and played guitar. It features musicians like Jerry Marotta (Hall & Oates, Peter Gabriel) on drums, percussion and world musicians Steve Gorn on bansuri flute and Benjy Wertheimer on esraj, amongst an array of other instruments.

Krishna Das will also be touring in spring 2010 with Deva Premal & Miten, dubbed “The Johnny and June Carter Cash of chant” by Yoga Journal . Together they are creating an extraordinary series of concerts across the US, highlighting the newfound popularity of kirtan and mantra chanting. These musicians, who have enjoyed a worldwide grass-roots success the past decade, are each celebrating the release of new albums with their first co-headlined tour. (tour dates below)

State Radio Announce Winter 2010 "Let It Go: Lefty Rides Again" Tour

Punk rock trio State Radio announced today a 20-city US tour that kicks off on January 13th in Tucson, AZ. The winter 2010 “Let It Go: Lefty Rides Again” tour marks the band’s first major market tour since the release of Let It Go, which debuted at #96 in the Billboard 200 in October. The band recently wrapped up a 24-city North American tour and are taking a very short break before heading back on the road with 311 on November 22 (full list of tour dates below).

State Radio, who in addition to their hard-hitting live shows are known for their social activism, will continue with their pre-show community service projects via their humanitarian organization, Calling All Crows. Frontman Chad Stokes--who recently became a featured blogger on the Huffington Post’s new section IMPACT--wrote about the potential of musicians to inspire their fans to public service not only with words but also by example. Griffin House Announces New Headline Dates Plus Dates With The Cranberries

Griffin House has announced new headline dates that will take him from Greenville, SC on October 14 through Oxford, OH on October 29. The singer/songwriter will not only play songs from his latest release, Flying Upside Down, but also older songs that he rarely plays live. Additionally, he'll be debuting a few new tracks that will be included on his next album. In November, House will join The Cranberries on the road as they travel across N. America for three weeks (full list of dates below).

House has toured with the likes of Josh Ritter, Richard Thompson, Rhett Miller and John Mellencamp, and also spends time on the road with Ten Out Of Tenn, a group of 10 independent, Nashville-based musicians like Erin McCarly, Trent Dabbs and fellow Nettwerk artist Butterfly Boucher, whose goal is to expose their city’s vibrant pop rock scene to the entire country.
